Round 6. The last one! Brownhall to Dumfries (Crichton) **Please note that this event will start a bit earlier than the previous ones at 6.45pm to make the most of the light.** We'll use the car park pictured below on the Crichton grounds for sign on and numbers. The Strava link below is pretty much the course. It's the first half of the Glencaple 25: Start at the primary school, travel through Glencaple and Bankend then finish at or near the 30 limit back at the Crichton. www.strava.com/segments/1909893 — Brownhall - Dumfries loop Volunteers are needed - please get in touch in advance. We need to know if we have enough help by Tuesday. As this has always been intended to be a collaborative project between local clubs, assistance from clubs other than DCC would be particularly welcome. 👍 Current League standings and arrangements are here and will be updated soon after the event. Winners and prizes will be confirmed as soon as we can but it won't be possible to do this on the night: dumfriescc.btck.co.uk/RaceTT/TimeTrialLeagueTablesLet's have a big field to bring the League to a fitting finale! New riders welcome, as ever. See you there!

The sun set on the first running of the DG League TT series this evening. Starting way back in April, it's been good fun each time. A lot has been learned this season. Already thoughts are starting to turn to how to make it even better in 2018.
The times from this evening are below. As ever, competition was fierce and rivals throughout the field battled hard for points. Once again, times were very close. Some serious number-crunching needs to be done on my pocket calculator before the final points totals can be confirmed. I'll announce them and the prize winners as soon as I can.
Thank you to Fiona Ure, Helen Acklam and Stephen Martin for their help tonight. The series depends on people giving up their time to help - it just can't happen without volunteers. On behalf of all the riders who took part in the League this year, thank you to everyone who helped at each of the events.
Ross Acklam 36.36 Esther Hamill 36.36 Gill McNeil 36.16 Donald McCalley 36.05 Alex Ure 36.54 Neil Pearson 32.47 Craig Gibson 33.13 Craig Kirkpatrick 34.59 Kevin Jamieson 33.42 Stewart McGregor 31.36 Garry Collins 34.22 Stuart Garner 37.09 Richard Colbeck 33.41 Glenn Marland 35.48 David Jordan 33.18 Jamie Little 32.48 Gordon McNeil 33.22 Andrew Parker DNF Lewis Martin 29.31(2nd) Cameron Scade 31.08 (3rd) Gavin Shirley 29.21 (1st)

**One more volunteer required, please** The Club's prestigious Hill Climb Championship takes place this Wednesday evening on the slopes leading up to Loch Ettrick. Riders should meet at the foot of the hill, near the village of Park, in good time for a **6.30pm start**. Just over 3 miles long and with an average gradient of 4%, the steepest ramp is at the foot of the hill and the biggest midges are at the top. It's a standalone event for club members, unrelated to the rest of our TTs. You just need to be willing to give it some welly up the hill! Conditions were cool and damp this evening for the annual club hill climb championship. With a westerly breeze at their backs, 10 riders took the start.
The climb up to Loch Ettrick is 3.2 miles long with an averages gradient of just under 4%, albeit with a couple of steeper sections. It was really good to see a few riders making their debut in this testing event. Excellent times were set throughout the field in what turned out to be a very close competition.
Thank you to Glenn Marland and Dave Niblock (DCC Hill Climb Champion of 1998!) for ensuring a safe and enjoyable event.
The times have been checked and verified and are confirmed as follows:
Donald McCalley 14.50 Gill McNeil 15.21 Craig Kirkpatrick 14.58 Kev Jamieson 13.13 (3rd=) Craig Gibson 13.19 Gordon McNeil 14.08 Cameron Scade 12.37 (1st) David Keenan 12.44 (2nd) Neil Pearson 13.13 (3rd=) Richard Colbeck 13.43

Here are the results of this evening's Pie Eaters' 5 Mile time trial. This is the race that traditionally brings the curtain down on our year's time-trialling entertainment. Each rider's time on the night is noted first with times adjusted for the handicap in brackets. It's the time in brackets we're interested in here!
Donald McCalley 12.59 (10.56) Alex Ure 12.58 (11.20) Craig Kirkpatrick 12.00 (10.13) 1st Garry Collins 12.19 (10.35) 2nd David Jordan 12.59 (11.27) Richard Colbeck 11.54 (11.02) Craig Gibson 11.39 (10.42) 3rd Cameron Scade 11.00 (11.00) Colin Little 13.18 (11.28)
Congratulations to Craig Kirkpatrick, our new Champion Pie Eater! 🏆
Once again, we're very grateful to Glenn Marland and Dave Niblock for running tonight's event and to Shaun Wylie for coming along and taking photos. Dave's assistance is especially appreciated as he is no longer a regular time triallist. It's also worth noting that this year's post-race pies (and cakes!) were especially good!
It's been a hugely successful season of time-trialling at Dumfries Cycling Club. Thanks to every rider, volunteer and supporter who has taken part in 2017 and helped make it such a safe and and enjoyable season.
