After a very wet and windy Wednesday afternoon, a window of dry weather opened, and stayed open, just in time for the eagerly-awaited return of the DG League TT series in the evening. A noticeable breeze from the south would make the home leg a stiff test following the draggy, slightly uphill first section of the course.
As ever, the occasion brought out the best in riders throughout the field who set some excellent times. The fastest time of the evening was set by the talented and ever-improving 18 year old Lewis Martin of CRT who finished in an impressive 23.09. Lewis is the third different rider to win a round of the series so far - an indication of how competitive the League has been. Things could not have been closer in the Women's competition, either - Gill McNeil and series leader Esther Hamill tied on 27.46!
Standings in each of the Leagues are extremely close. Look out for an update in the coming days as points are allocated following the latest results!
Grateful thanks on behalf of all the riders to those who volunteered to help run the event: Fiona Ure, John Sturgeon, Richard Colbeck and Shaun Wylie. Great work!
