Great fun at the Merckx TT this evening. Lots of riders, lots of smiles, lots of lovely bikes - old and new.
The Race Secretary somewhat foolishly locked his keys in his car (:$) so unfortunately we were unable to present the Belgian-themed prizes on the night. Prizes will be awarded at the next available opportunity. Sorry. The top prize is a beautiful Molteni jersey very generously donated by Shaun Wylie. Prize winners will be announced in the coming days after due consideration.
More than ever, it really wasn't about the times tonight. Final times will be adjusted to favour riders using retro or particularly interesting kit, so bear in mind that the times below are provisional and unadjusted.
Thanks to all who took part and special thanks to Fiona Ure, Graham Shedden and Richard Colbeck for running the show. Photos can be seen on our Facebook page - well worth a look.

This week's club-confined time trial is a 10 on the popular Lockerbie course. Personal best times are never easy to achieve but, of all our DCC courses, it is this fast out and back route that's most likely to reward a good, well-paced ride with a fast time. A few wee lumps that can break a rider's rhythm and the puzzle of how to pace your effort according to what the wind is doing make this course a really enjoyable challenge for many. The course record is a longstanding 22.20, set by Tommy Lockhart.
For a variety of reasons we're using this course less often this season than in the past so make sure you don't miss this opportunity!
The meeting point is adjacent to Dinwoodie Lodge on the B7076, 6 miles north of Lockerbie. See the route descriptor for more information. First rider off at 7.01pm. All members welcome: come and have a go!
**Merckx TT prizes will be awarded before home time.**

21 riders competed in the latest DCC club 10 mile TT this evening, this time on the legendary Lockerbie course. A number of riders were making their debut here, which is quite different in character to the Glencaple course we've used more often this season. Conditions were good, a light breeze helping urge the riders back on the homeward leg of the race. Thanks to Craig Kirkpatrick and Fiona Ure for their help in running the event, and to David Keenan for his support and photographs. Times are below and league tables are due for an update. Next week sees a welcome return to the 'Devil On Wheels' course for a 17 mile club event. ***Please check your diaries for 19th August. We are running an Open TT around Loch Ken and require volunteers to help. It would be brilliant also to see plenty of DCC riders competing. This is a huge event for the club and already we have entries from riders all over the UK. Please get in touch if you are available to help. Entry details can be found here: www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/15765Lockerbie 10 times, 14 June: Emma Westmancott 29.29 Gary Black 28.32 Cameron Black DNF Ross Acklam 27.20 Andrew Wheeler 30.18 Sandy Laurie 26.46 Donald McCalley 26.41 Alex Ure 25.50 Colin McCann 26.15 Brian Morrell 24.56 Colin Little 26.15 Richard Colbeck 24.19 (3rd) Kevin Jamieson 25.24 Stuart Garner 24.27 Garry Collins 26.08 Gordon McNeil 24.26 Stephen Spellacy 23.12 (=2nd) Cameron Scade 22.34 (1st) Andrew Parker 23.12 (=2nd) Glenn Marland 26.01 Craig Gibson 24.28

Devil on Wheels TT 21st June
This week's club-confined time trial returns to the 'Devil On Wheels' circuit. Last used in season 2015, it's a wee gem of a TT course, with something for everyone. This event is part of our 18-25 league.
Its title, the 'Devil On Wheels', reflects the fact that the course finishes at Courthill Smithy in Keir, where Kirkpatrick McMillan built the world's first pedal-driven bicycle. In June 1842, McMillan's dramatic and somewhat ill-fated ride to Glasgow from Keir Mill on his machine saw him garner sensational headlines in the Glasgow press, branding him a 'Devil on Wheels'!
A route descriptor will follow, in addition to the photos published on the Facebook page. Please note the comments on each photo. If you are riding please familiarise yourself with the course in advance.
Please note:
- We are trying a new meeting point. Please meet and sign on at the MUGA in Penpont, Millbank Place, next to the park. There is some parking here but you are free to park anywhere sensible in the village, with respect for the residents. There are public toilets at the foot of Marrburn Road in the centre of the village.
- It's a scenic 17.6 mile course. It's not flat.
- The start is at the gatehouse to Capenoch on the A702, at the western end of Penpont.
- The course follows the A702 over the Clone Road before turning sharp left just before Kirkland to join the B729. You'll speed through Dunscore then turn left at Throughgate. The course joins the Keir road at the campsite by Allanton Mill (this junction will be marshalled). From here it's an enjoyable 6 mile romp to the finish!
- Sections of the course are undulating and technical so please ensure your bike is in good order. A road bike is a good choice for this event.
***CAUTION*** 0.7 miles of road between Nether Keir Farm and Porterstown Farm on the home stretch has recently been chip-sealed. It's rideable with caution.
- The course can be seen as a Strava segment here, where you'll get an idea of the course profile:
app.strava.com/activities/166400983/segments/3870181619
Hopefully we can get a good field for this - it's a sporting course which provides an enjoyable challenge. Let me know if you've any questions.
NB: one or two helpers are still required: we'd be grateful if anyone who is not planning to ride but who can help out on the night could get in touch.

The third running of the Devil On Wheels TT took place earlier on a hot and humid evening. 15 riders took to the start line of this challenging but hugely enjoyable course. The pre-race chat focused on equipment choice and tyre pressures, as riders engaged with the particular challenges of this twisty, undulating and at times technical circuit. Despite the heat, some excellent times were achieved. Thanks to all the riders who came out to take part - well done! Kirkpatrick McMillan would be very proud of you! :-)
Thanks to Emma Westmancott, Colin Little, John Sturgeon and Brian Morrell for giving up their time helping with timekeeping and marshaling the course.
Here are the times from this evening's event:
Ross Acklam 53.39 Gill McNeil 52.42 Donald McCalley 54.01 Alex Ure 51.57 Sandy Laurie 53.08 Craig Kirkpatrick 49.28 David Jordan 47.34 Colin McCann 50.25 Garry Collins 49.04 Glenn Marland 49.58 Richard Colbeck 46.56 (2nd) Andrew Parker 44.40 (1st) Stephen Spellacy DNF Craig Gibson 49.40 Gordon McNeil 47.08 (3rd)
Next week (28th June) is the 4th event in the DG League series, at Glencaple. As well as being part of our local CTT League it is also a counting event for our own club handicap leagues.
