Wee Nairo Quintana, we're told, hates crosswinds. The time triallists of DCC aren't very keen either. While there was no raging Mistral wind blowing at the Lockerbie 10 this evening, the breeze that blew across the course certainly caused some dark mutterings amongst the competitors. Nevertheless, some fast times were set and the times were very close, as has become the norm this season.
A number of riders can be pleased with their new PBs. Colin McCann's rich vein of good form continues but this time his pace was matched by that of Garry Collins: a clash of titans! Great stuff! Here are the times, with updated handicap league points to follow in due course:
G Shedden 29.33 R Acklam 29.39 D McCalley 26.31 C Kirkpatrick 26.26 A Ure 26.35 K Jamieson 27.06 C Little 25.53 G Collins 24.59 (2nd =) B Morrell 25.24 C McCann 24.59 (2nd =) C Scade 23.10 (1st)
Thanks to Brian Morrell, David Jordan and Richard Colbeck for their help in running the event and thanks also to Stuart Garner for taking some brilliant photos (look out for them on the club Facebook page).

This week's TT is a 10 on the 'new' Collin course which runs on the B724 from Racks to Comlongon Castle gates and back. Please exercise particular caution at the turn. Parking is at Racks road. Sign in by 6.45pm.
We require two helpers for next week's event at Lockerbie. Please get in touch if you would be willing to assist.

Huge credit goes to the hardy competitors who endured wet and windy conditions for this evening's 10 mile TT on the Collin course. It was especially pleasing to see Graham Kerr return to action following a long absence from competition, while reigning Pie Eaters' 5 champion Richard Colbeck made a welcome first appearance of the season. Both men put in highly competitive times and look eager for more.
To set a fast time tonight riders would have to cope well with a strong headwind on the outward leg. The talented Ross Acklam continues to learn quickly, putting in his best ride so far in challenging conditions this evening. David Keenan looked in the mood before the start and rode strongly to finish in 3rd place in a time of 25.55. The irrepressible Colin Mccann sped to yet another top 3 finish, taking 2nd place in 25.49. It was David Jordan, however, who continued his run of impressive results this season by taking top spot with a very rapid 25.31.
Thank you to Helen Acklam, Terry Kowalski and Graham Shedden for running things this evening. Here are the times:
R Acklam 30.04 G Kerr 28.22 D McCalley 27.20 R Colbeck 26.59 C Kirkpatrick 27.13 A Ure 28.22 D Keenan 25.55 (3rd) G Marland 26.57 C Little 26.35 B Morrell 27.05 C McCann 25.49 (2nd) D Jordan 25.31 (1st)

Last week's 10 at Lockerbie was cancelled due to concerns over heavy rain and spray. While this is disappointing, the safety of riders is always of paramount importance.
We're now in the final phase of our time-trialling season and this Wednesday's TT is the last of three 25 mile events this season.
Please note that the event starts earlier than usual, at 6.30pm, so that we have as much light as possible.
The Glencaple course provides a fair challenge with plenty of opportunity for competitors to reach and maintain a high speed. The short but deceptively energy-sapping climbs (at Caerlaverock Castle, Bankend Road and after the turn at the Crichton roundabout) punctuate an otherwise big-ring friendly course. Hopefully the warm, dry weather and the forecasted light winds should encourage plenty of riders to take on the challenge and get involved this week!
Please note: First rider off from Brownhall Primary at 6.36, sign on by 6.15, please. Dig in!
