After a day of persistent heavy rain, there was some doubt as to whether tonight's time trial could go ahead safely. Fortunately, though, the weather improved considerably in time for the riders signing on for the event. The course was largely dry but a cloudburst at the roundabout at Lockerbie had soaked the turn. Luckily all the riders were alert to this and made it home without incident.
Yet another season's debutant, Sandy Laurie, made his entry to the noble sport of time-trialling this evening. He can be very pleased with his time of 27.44. Time-trialling stalwart Donald McCalley put in a great ride to finish in 26.39. Fine performances from David Jordan and Garry Collins put them in second and third place respectively while Cameron Scade set his best ever time on this course to top the timesheet on the night. Full times are below.
Thanks to David Pritchard and Colin McCann, without whose help we couldn't have run the event. The next TT is two weeks away, at Park Farm.
D McCalley 26.39 S Wyllie 25.19 S Spellacy 25.35 C Little 25.28 G Collins 24.53 (3rd) D Jordan 24.29 (2nd) C Scade 22.35 (1st) S Laurie 27.44

A somewhat reduced field took the start in last night's Park Farm time trial. A number of regular riders were unable to take part but those who raced enjoyed good conditions, coping well with a blustery breeze from the west. Great to see another strong new rider get involved - Craig Kirkpatrick now has a time trial under his belt, hopefully the first of many. The course was shortened slightly to take account of roadworks. Frustratingly, for the second time this season, the riders were held up by sheep on the road to New Abbey, each losing a chunk of time, perhaps up to four minutes.
Thanks go to the officials on the night - Colin Little, Stuart Garner, Shaun Wylie and Stephen Spellacy - who gave up their own chance of riding to help out. Next week is a 10 at Glencaple. Here are the times:
Craig Kirkpatrick 54.41 Donald McCartney 53.45 (3rd) Brian Morrell 52.11 (2nd) Colin Mccann 49.58 (1st)

This Wednesday's time trial is a 10 on the Glencaple course, returning there for the first time since April. This course runs through the village of Glencaple where riders should be particularly alert to pedestrians and parked vehicles. The turn is at the roundabout at Brownhall Primary before the fast run back down to the start/finish line.
We'll be meeting at the car park at the quayside in Glencaple in good time for a 7pm start, allowing time to get to the start line from the village. The start/finish is near the kennels road end.
If you're a member of the club but you've not taken part in a TT before, this one could be ideal for you. If you've fallen out of the TT habit, here's your chance to get back in the groove! You'll be made very welcome. Any questions about how to get involved - please just ask. Current 10 mile handicap league tables are published on the website.

This was a fine evening for a time trial and riders were out in good numbers to support the latest club 10 mile time trial at Glencaple. A cross-headwind on the outward leg towards Dumfries added to the challenge of this deceptively tough wee course that is already becoming a club favourite.
The encouraging trend of new riders taking the chance to participate in these events continued tonight. Andrew Niblock returned to action and was joined by Ross Acklam, a young rider with an impressive track record of success in multi-sports events. Meanwhile, Craig Kirkpatrick followed up his debut time trial last week with his first attempt at a '10'.
Another feature of this season is how close the times have been, with personal battles being waged throughout the field. Stephen Spellacy, Garry Collins and Colin McCann in particular will be plotting how to get the edge on their close rivals next week at Lockerbie!
Sincere thanks to Neil Pearson and Donald McCalley for marshaling and timekeeping. Here are the results:
G Shedden 30.35 C Kirkpatrick 27.57 Ross Acklam 30.16 A Ure 27.24 A Niblock 28.31 C Little 25.59 B Morrell 26.45 S Spellacy 25.48 G Collins 25.44 (3rd) C McCann 25.37 (2nd) C Scade 24.08 (1st)
