**Please note the early start time**
Tomorrow evening sees the first club 10 mile time trial of the season take place on the Glencaple course. This course runs through the village of Glencaple where, of course, riders will need to be particularly alert to pedestrians and parked vehicles. The turn is at the roundabout at Brownhall Primary.
We'll be meeting at the car park at the quayside in Glencaple in good time for a 6.30pm start, allowing time to get to the start line from the village. The start/finish is near the road up to the kennels.
Hopefully we'll see a good turnout for the start of what promises to be an exciting season. Please remember you need to be a current member of the club to participate. Any questions about how to get involved - please just ask.

The first club time trial of the season was encouragingly well-attended this evening. It was brilliant to see seventeen eager riders gather to get the DCC season off to a flying start! It's always especially pleasing to see new riders come along - this evening we welcomed Emma Westmancott, Fraser Bradford McGill and Esther Hamill along for the first time. A particular well done to them!
A blustery breeze from the north west challenged the riders on the already draggy outward leg but offered a helpful nudge home after the turn. Some really promising times were posted in tricky conditions. Shaun Wylie performed exceptionally well to set the third fastest time, just a handful of seconds behind the always competitive and always quick Neil Pearson. However, despite suffering from a broken rib, it was Gordon McNeil, using the high cadence and impressive souplesse he has honed on the track, who claimed top spot on the night by a margin of 9 seconds.
Points for this event will be calculated and published in due course. Thanks to Garry Collins and Colin McCann for carrying out the official duties this evening. Here are the times:
Emma Westmancott 36.05 Fraser Bradford McGill 29.29 Donald McCalley 27.42 Gill McNeil 28.37 Dave Moss 30.19 Esther Hamill 29.08 Sandy Laurie 27.42 Craig Kirkpatrick 27.07 Glenn Marland 27.10 Brian Morrell 26.09 Kevin Jamieson 26.42 Shaun Wylie 26.00 (3rd) David Jordan 26.25 Stuart Garner 26.22 Neil Pearson 25.54 (2nd) Gordon McNeil 25.45 (1st) Ross Acklam 29.35

Tomorrow evening (7pm start) is the first in this season's 18-25 series, on the formidable Park Farm course which runs through Beeswing and New Abbey. With the impending changes to the roads due to the opening of the new hospital, this is likely to be the last time we are able to use this classic course in this form. With a couple of big climbs and some fast descending, this is a course that perhaps particularly suits those riding road bikes: you don't need a TT bike to do any of our events! Conditions look like being good tomorrow evening so come along and test yourself. It really is a super course that rewards your efforts. The start/finish is at the rugby club. Please exercise caution at the junctions and mini roundabouts in the first section of the course leaving Dumfries. Please also be wary on the road into Beeswing where there are a few sizeable potholes to be avoided. Care must also be taken at the left turn on to Whinny Hill at New Abbey. Remember you need to be a current first claim member of the club to participate. Any questions about how to get involved - please just ask. At least one more volunteer is required to help out - please get in touch if you are able to assist.

The second in our 10 mile TT series took place this evening and was once again very well-attended. Riders are beginning to find their form, honing their pacing strategies and developing the little rivalries that we all enjoy seeing play out over the course of a season.
Conditions tonight were less than ideal with the cross-headwind from the south west seeming to slow this already tough course down a little. Despite this, there were lots of excellent performances and a few outstanding results this evening. Already there are PBs being set and markers laid down for future battles!
Many thanks to Fiona Ure, Alex Ure, Donald McCalley and David Keenan for their invaluable help in running the event. Here are the times:
Emma Westmancott 31.34 Esther Hamill 28.08 Fraser Bradford McGill 29.50 Shaun Wylie 25.39 Sandy Laurie 27.54 Cameron Scade 24.28 (1st) Craig Kirkpatrick 26.44 Brian Morrell 26.22 David Jordan 26.26 Garry Collins 26.16 Stuart Garner 26.19 Kevin Jamieson 26.00 Richard Colbeck 26.05 Gill McNeil 27.45 Gordon McNeil 25.21 Ross Acklam 29.03 Neil Pearson 25.14 (3rd) Stephen Spellacy 24.36 (2nd)
Look out for a handicap league points update coming soon!
