This week's TT is the first of three 25 mile TTs planned for this season. The distance represents a true test of both speed and stamina for any cyclist. The Glencaple course provides a fair challenge with plenty of opportunity for competitors to reach and maintain a high speed. The short but deceptively energy-sapping climbs (at Caerlaverock Castle, Bankend Road and after the turn at the Crichton roundabout) punctuate an otherwise big-ring friendly course. Hopefully the warm, dry weather and a forecasted sympathetic wind direction should encourage plenty of riders to take on the challenge and get involved this week! Meet at Brownhall Primary. First rider off at 7.01, sign on by 6.45, please. Come along and give it the beans!!

There are few things in life as pleasant as a sun-kissed evening pedal along the Nith. Eight riders pinned a number on this evening and took to the start line, finding various ways to bend the laws of physics in order to convince themselves that the wind would in no way slow their progress, setting the following admirable times:
D McCalley 1.11.41 Gill McNeil 1.10.22 C Little 1.08.19 D Jordan 1.06.16 S Wyllie 1.06.18 B Morrell 1.06.07 Gordon McNeil 1.03.27 C Scade 1.00.07
Huge thanks to G Shedden and S Spellacy for running things this evening. Great fun tonight - well done to all who took part!

This week's time trial is a 10 on the Lockerbie course - the place where riders dare to dream of PBs! We meet at Dinwoodie Lodge, 6 miles north of Lockerbie. This is also the place where riders will start and finish. Sign on by 6.45, please. Our consultant meteorologists have indicated that conditions will actually, truly be quite nearly half-decent for time-trialling so don't miss out!

The favourable conditions riders had hoped for all season finally arrived this evening for the Lockerbie 10 and ten competitors arrived ready to make the most of it. DCC time-trialling stalwart Alex Ure returned to action with his TT machine running sweetly and can be satisfied with his time. Messrs Shedden, McCalley, Spellacy and Little set their best times this year, while Shaun Wyllie will be delighted with his PB. David Jordan and Brian Morrell continued their battle for supremacy, this time Jordan edging Morrell by 5 seconds to take 3rd place. Cameron Scade set the fastest time on the night but it was new DCC member Gary Jamieson who made a startling debut to time-trialling with a performance that marks him out as a rider to watch for the rest of the season.
We're grateful to Neil Pearson who did a great job as the race official this evening. Times:
G Shedden 28.37 D McCalley 26.34 S Spellacy 26.35 A Ure 27.33 C Little 25.40 G Jamieson 24.40 (2nd) D Jordan 25.01 (3rd) S Wyllie 26.02 B Morrell 25.06 C Scade 22.54 (1st)
