Reliability
Dear Members, average speeds and timings for the Reliability ride this Saturday are as follows –
Group 1 - depart at 9am. Average speed is 15mph – 4hrs 15mins
Group 2 - depart 9.15am. Average speed 17mph – 3hrs 44mins
Group 3 - depart 9.25am. Average speed 19mph – 3hrs 20mins
As you can see this is a change to the normal setting off times so set your alarm clocks accordingly.
Depending on the numbers of riders, we may have two middle groups one at 17mph average and the other at 18mph average (3hrs 30mins) setting off between Group 2 and Group 3.
If all goes to plan we should arrive at the Laurie Arms at about the same time for refreshments provided by the Club.
Saturday’s run will mean working as a group and maintaining your target average/time. It is not a race so there shouldn’t be any individuals leg-ripping. At least one member of the group should keep the others updated on average speed and timing. Comfort breaks and mechanicals will be inevitable so don’t panic! Team work!
The forecast is for light winds and mild temperatures with the chance of rain (fingers crossed).
The road from Crocketford to Corsock has been chipped so caution is needed. Arriving at New Galloway from Balmaclellan, take a right at the junction for A762 (Ayr) direction Glenlee. The road goes straight up! It flattens out after a while and you’re looking for a blue bicycle sign near Glenlee. This is the left-hander for Maggot Hill. After several lumpy miles you’ll emerge onto the Clatteringshaws rd. Go left here, direction New Galloway.
Go along Loch Ken till the left hander for Laurieston then you want to go right just before the bridge at Glenlochar. This will take you to the A75 (caution crossing) and the Bridge of Dee. From there it’s direction CD and the Military Rd for the Haugh.
I will be at Halfords just before 9am. Looking forward to a fun day on the bike.
