It was warm again this evening for the last club 10 of Season 2016. A good turnout of riders took to the start line on the Lockerbie course, each grateful to Adam Mitchell and Helen Acklam for their help in the safe running of the event.
It wasn't an easy night to be posting fast times, but there were some cracking performances throughout the field. Ride Of The Day undoubtedly goes to Ross Acklam who took a massive chunk off his PB and looks set to take big strides forward in 2017.
I love 10 mile TTs so I'm a bit sad to post the final set of 10 results until next year! Here goes:
G Shedden 29.50 R Acklam 27.53 C Kirkpatrick 25.37 D McCalley 26.55 A Ure 26.02 S Spellacy 25.22 S Garner 25.11 (2nd) C Little 25.58 C McCann 25.19 G Marland 25.44 D Keenan 25.26 D Jordan 25.15 C Scade 23.19
Dry your eyes, though - there's a Park Farm TT next week!

At last! A clear run at the Park Farm circuit! Under darkening skies, nine competitors started this evening's time trial. Only eight would finish, however, as Colin McCann unfortunately suffered a mechanical problem that led him to climb off at New Abbey. Those who finished achieved quick times, with Richard Colbeck, in particular, riding well at the tail end of a season in which he has only rarely competed.
Many thanks to those who have returned trophies from last season - keep them coming, please! Please contact racedumfriescc@gmail.com to arrange safe return.
Here are the times from this evening: C Kirkpatrick 50.55 C Little 49.39 S Spellacy 50.27 B Morrell 49.44 D Jordan 48.35 (2nd) R Colbeck 49.22 (3rd) C McCann DNF C Scade 45.20 (1st) S Wylie 54.08
Thanks to Donald McCalley, David Keenan and Steve McGivern for performing timekeeping and marshaling duties. Much appreciated.

The Club's prestigious Hill Climb Championship takes place on Wednesday evening on the slopes leading up to Loch Ettrick. Riders should meet at the foot of the hill, near the village of Park, in good time for a 6.30 start. Just over 3 miles long and with an average gradient of 4%, the steepest ramp is at the foot of the hill and the biggest midges are at the top. It's a standalone event for club members, unrelated to the rest of our TTs. You just need to be willing to give it some welly up the hill! Hup hup! Previous Champions: 1994-1995-1996-1997 C McCann 1998 A Niblock 1999 G Knowles 2000 - 2001 - 2002 R Nicholson 2003 S Martin & J Sturgeon 2004 - 2005 J Sturgeon 2006 S Martin 2007 J Sturgeon & D Martin 2008 J Sturgeon 2009 J Moir 2010 - 2011 J Paterson 2012 J Taylor 2013 G McNeil 2014 C Ross 2015 D Keenan www.strava.com/segments/925469

The club Hill Climb Championship took place this evening. Conditions were pretty ideal, there was great support and encouragement from those helping at the foot of the hill, everyone gave it all they had, and in the end we had a worthy winner. A brilliant event.
Thanks to Fiona Ure, Alex Ure and Stephen Spellacy for taking care of business and also to Gordon and Gill McNeil and Helen Acklam for their help and support!
Here are the results: Graham Shedden 17.47 Brian Morrell 15.13 Shaun Wylie 15.15 Richard Colbeck 14.01 Ross Acklam 15.13 Colin McCann 14.43 David Keenan 12.49 (1st) Neil Pearson 13.29 (2nd) Cameron Scade 13.49 (3rd) David Jordan 14.39
Congratulations to David Keenan who put in a storming ride up the hill to retain his title as Dumfries Cycling Club's Hill Climb Champion!

This week brings our last TT of the season. The Pie Eaters' 5 Mile TT trophy is a highly sought-after prize with a distinguished history. The trophy was first presented in 1983, to G Latimer, while the most recent name in an illustrious list of champions is that of Richard Colbeck. Will we have a new champion Pie Eater tomorrow evening?
It's a 6.30 start. Meet at Brownhall Primary, allowing plenty of time to get to the start at Kelton. Here's how it works:
The 5 mile TT is a total handicap event where the fastest rider in the 10 mile time trials starts on scratch. Each rider's handicap is their best 10 mile TT time of the season subtracted from the scratch rider's time and divided by 2.
