As riders signed on the start sheet for this evening's time trial, ominous dark clouds began to gather. At long last, our first wet time trial of the season had arrived! The hot, humid conditions did competitors no favours but the times ended up being extremely close and the sporting drama compelling.
Former club chairman Graham Trickey made a superb comeback, 14 years after his last time trial. His spirit and level of performance should provide inspiration to others who may not have competed for some time. Fast man Neil Pearson returned to TT action for only the second time this season and showed his class to post the quickest time of the night. David Pritchard took second spot but the real drama was played out in the battle for third, with four riders posting times within seconds of each other. Colin Little has made big improvements over the course of this season and was rewarded with the third best time tonight and bragging rights over his rivals, Keenan, Collins and Jordan. Great action!
Thanks to Andrew Taylor for his assistance at this event.
G Trickey 36.26 D McCalley 28.16 A Ure 28.03 D Keenan 26.48 C Little 26.45 (3rd) G Collins 26.50 D Pritchard 26.23 (2nd) D Jordan 26.46 N Pearson 25.10 (1st)

I have reviewed the schedule of helpers for the remaining events of the TT season. Please check if you are affected by the changes that have been made and, as soon as possible, arrange for any further changes to be made if required. The intention is that those who participate on a regular basis should help in at least two events. A number of events require volunteers to come forward to help out. If you are able to help at any of these events please get in touch at racedumfries@gmail.com. Thanks in anticipation of your continued support.

This week's time trial is another 10 on the popular Lockerbie course. We meet at Dinwoodie Lodge, 6 miles north of Lockerbie. This is also the place where riders will start and finish. There are some really interesting personal battles taking place this season among riders who appear to be very evenly matched. The real focus of these events is in racing yourself, though, in your battle to set a time you can be proud of. If you haven't yet been along to test yourself and see what you might be capable of - don't delay, get involved! We are also short of a marshal or two - if you are willing to help please let me know.
Please see the revised calendar of TTs for the rest of the season (on the website and forum). We are short of helpers for several events - please consider getting in touch to offer your help.

There was a good turnout of riders for this week's 10 at Lockerbie. One of the most pleasing aspects of this season's competition is the number of new riders we've had come along to test themselves and tonight we welcomed Mike Warbeck along to make a powerful and promising debut. There was a warm welcome back, too, for Glenn Marland who has been competing for DCC elsewhere so far this season.
As has been the case all season, very fine margins separated many of the competitors this evening, no doubt prompting plenty of thought amongst those involved of how to eek out those few seconds that can make all the difference in setting those elusive personal best times.
David Jordan put together an excellent ride to nick top spot tonight ahead of Stuart Garner, who now tackles an ironman triathlon at the weekend. David Pritchard took his now customary place on the podium. Keep an eye out at the end of the month for how these times relate to PBs and translate into league points - things are bound to be very close indeed!
There's no TT next week so the next one is another Lockerbie 10 on 29th June. Please check the revised calendar of events for details of the help that is required for the rest of the season. The officials tonight were B Young and C Scade.

This Wednesday's time trial is on the Lockerbie course, meeting at Dinwoodie Lodge in good time for a 7pm start.
It's been great to have some new riders along at recent events and it would be brilliant to get a few more coming along as we move into the second half of the season. You don't need any special equipment or skills beyond having a bike in working order and knowing how to pedal it. You certainly don't need a TT bike - you are really only racing yourself and the clock! No excuses - come and race!😃
