This evening's 17.5 mile TT was run in excellent conditions with just a light south-easterly breeze to take into account in pacing strategies. By the time they reached the finish line, however, riders flocked to tell tales of unexpected challenges out on the road. While riders put in excellent efforts, one or two will perhaps be feeling a bit sheepish at their times.
Many thanks to officials on the night : Gill McNeil, S Spellacy and D Jordan.

Tomorrow evening's club TT is a 10 at Glencaple. This course runs through the village of Glencaple where riders should be particularly alert to pedestrians and parked vehicles. The turn is at the roundabout at Brownhall Primary before the fast run back down to the start/finish line. Gordon McNeil holds the course record of 25.36.
We'll be meeting at the car park at the quayside in Glencaple in good time for a 7pm start, allowing time to get to the start line from the village. The start/finish is near the road up to the kennels.
Officials are John Sturgeon and Stuart Garner.
If you've not taken part in a TT before this could be the one to get you started! Please remember you need to be a current member of the club to participate - you'll be made very welcome. Any questions about how to get involved - please just ask.

The time-triallists were cold this evening. Bitterly cold temperatures and a nagging north-westerly breeze meant that fast times on this deceptively hard Glencaple course would be difficult to achieve. Despite this, Brian Young and Stephen Spellacy continued to make encouraging progress in their respective comebacks to competition this season while Brian Morrell took advantage of familiar roads to continue his recent good form. There are a number of close rivalries bubbling under nicely as we move into May.
Grateful thanks to S Garner and J Sturgeon who oversaw the event. League points for April will be published in due course. Times are as follows:
D McCalley 28.51 A Mitchell 30.40 C Little 28.06 S Spellacy 28.19 B Morrell 26.45 (2nd) B Young 27.14 (3rd) D Jordan 27.26 C Scade 24.12 (1st)

This week's club time trial is a 10 on the popular Lockerbie course. Personal best times are never easy to achieve but, of all our DCC courses, it is this fast out and back route that's most likely to reward a good ride with a fast time. A few wee lumps that can break a rider's rhythm and the puzzle of how to pace your effort according to what the wind is doing make this a really enjoyable challenge for many. The course record is a longstanding 22.20, set by Tommy Lockhart.
Meeting point is adjacent to Dinwoodie Lodge on the B7076, 6 miles north of Lockerbie. First rider off at 7.01pm. All welcome: come and have a go!
Officials are G Kerr and M Duff.

Nine eager riders gathered this evening, each excited to get their first go this season on the legendary Lockerbie 10 course! A lively breeze from the south promised to get the pulse racing on both the out and back sections of the course.
G Shedden set off first in his smooth, relaxed style as those behind kept windproof jackets on until the last moment. S Wyllie made a welcome return to action with a typically strong and committed ride, posting the same time as the experienced D McCalley. Meanwhile, D Jordan, battling back from a crash at the weekend, can be pleased with his time, along with C Little and C McCann who will be hoping to narrow the gap to the increasingly consistent B Morrell. Warmer temperatures and calmer evenings beckon as we move into May - watch the times tumble!
Many thanks to M Duff and G Kerr for their invaluable help this evening. Times as follows:
G Shedden 31.02 D McCalley 27.38 C Little 26.41 S Spellacy 27.53 B Morrell 25.52 (2nd) S Wyllie 27.38 C McCann 26.00 (3rd) D Jordan 26.46 C Scade 23.15 (1st)
