Saturday Route - 21st January
This is the fourth of our longer club runs this winter and we will be heading towards New Galloway via Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas as follows:

Dumfries - New Abbey - Caulkerbush - Aucheninnes - Dalbeattie - Castle Douglas - Laurieston - New Galloway - A762 (Ayr) – A713 (CD) - St John’s Town of Dalry - Cafι Stop - A702 - Corriedoo - Moniaive -Kirkland - Dunscore - Newbridge - Lochside Rd - Dumfries

This route covers 78.6 miles with 2329 feet of climbing. Note that from New Galloway, we head up the A762 towards Ayr for about three miles before turning back down the A713 to Dalry. Change of food stop: we will be stopping at the Clachan Inn in St John's Town of Dalry.

The start time will be 0900 from Halfords car park in Dumfries.

The route is mapped at http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/64671974.

Alternative Standard Length Route
For anyone not planning the full run please come along at 0900 and ride with us as far as Castle Douglas. You can then follow the Military Road back to Dumfries. This route covers 44.6 miles and climbs 1430 feet. This route is mapped at http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/64675530/

For this Saturday's longer run, we will be stopping off at the Clachan Inn in St John's Town of Dalry. This is a change of plan due to winter closing of all of the local tea rooms.

Dumfries cycling club has made the route public. One click too many that's all it takes! Don't forget that this route is marked up in the opposite direction to the one that we are taking.

We'll be stopping at the Whitshiels Cafe in Langholm. This is on the outskirts of the town in the direction of Hawick.

Top marks to the route planner for this one. I thought I had reached the stage where there were no new routes from Dumfries for me, but this one managed to find a whole load of very pleasant cycling roads that appeared to be new to many of us. :D
And the cafe did a great black pudding roll as well.

That's the last of the winter runs complete. Thanks to everyone who came out for the ride whether you did the standard, or the longer run. Here's a photo to commemorate our second feeding of the season in the Clachan Inn. Theres a few more on on flickr - see the images page of the DCC site for the link to the group if you are interested.

Watch out! The longer runs have been so popular that we are looking to continue with something once a month through the summer.

We are disappointed that you didn't check with The Stag Tea Room in Carsphairn, 9 miles North of the Clachan as we are the only Tea Room to remain open all year round, closing only on Christmas Day. Please feel free to telephone us on 01644 460211 or message us on Facebook if you are ever in our area. Chris & Linda
